Midland Rockhounds

The family went to see the 'Hounds play the 'Riders.

Landon Powell hit two of six Midland homers as the RockHounds thumped visiting Frisco, 14-2, on Tuesday. Powell went 3-for-4 with five RBIs and a walk to extend his hitting streak to 19 games. The 25-year-old catcher has a .446 batting average (33-for-74) since June 1.
His second homer was part of a six-run fifth to put the game out of reach. Brant Colamarino belted a grand slam, his fifth homer, during the outburst.
Richie Robnett, Vince Faison and Myron Leslie each hit a solo blast for RockHounds (1-0) while Vasili Spanos added three singles.
Benjamin Fritz (7-3) surrendered two runs on six hits, striking out six and walking two over five frames to pick up the win.
Casey Benjamin and German Duran each had an RBI double for the RoughRiders (0-1).
Frisco starter Eric Hurley (7-2) surrendered eight runs on nine hits, fanning three and walking three over four innings.
